Educare Family Health Program Provides Resources Beyond the Classroom

To further their goal of providing integrated health support to students, the Tulsa Educare Family Health Program (EFHP) also extends those benefits to the entire household. This program, in partnership with the OU-TU School of Community Medicine, ensures families receive the care and education they need to remain happy and healthy, enrolling those who may be ineligible into public benefits.
In the 2023-2024 program year alone, Tulsa Educare helped connect 375 adults to health insurance and 319 in establishing a medical home. Many of these adults are enrolled in Educare Healthy Families (EHF), a unique program that uses grant funds to provide essential medical, dental and vision services to individuals who are uninsured.
In addition to healthcare services, families also benefit from YMCA memberships, nutrition classes and funds to use at the local farmer’s market—resources that support their comprehensive wellness goals and encourage healthy, sustainable lifestyles.
EFHP's health and wellness programs are designed to embolden families through education and access. Benefits of these programs include Make and Take Nutrition classes, which teach families how to shop for seasonal produce and make quick, healthy meals on a budget; Farmer's Market Tours with the Kendall Whittier Tulsa Farmer's Market, where families receive funds for local produce; and the Double Up Food Bucks program, which turns $20 of SNAP funds into $40 for fresh Farmer's Market fruits and vegetables.
