Micropolitan communities—specifically cities with populations between 10,000 and 50,000—serve as vital hubs for surrounding rural areas offering access to healthcare, job opportunities and education. The program provides resources to help these communities and their leaders connect and share best practices so they can better grow and thrive.
Launched in 2024, this community-led fellowship program supports local leaders in Ada, Muskogee and Stillwater by equipping them with tools and connections so they can help shape solutions where they live and work. The participants of 1050 Forward share a belief that all of our communities, rural and urban alike, must work together to make the country stronger.
These cities participating in the first cohort act as anchors for rural Oklahoma. They help drive our economy, have served generations of families and offer a valuable way of life.
