In 2008, GKFF purchased the former Central Freight parking lot (one square block between Cameron Street, Cincinnati Avenue, Brady Street and Boston Avenue) and is investing $8 million to convert it into an urban green space and Brady Arts District town square. The park, designed by SWA Group of Sausalito, Calif., will feature a pavilion, water feature, café and performance space for cinema, theatre, music, dance, festivals and markets.
Features of the Park on Brady include:
- Gardens with native plants and trees, brick and concrete paved paths, and a large lawn
- Large interactive jet fountain and three smaller water features
- An 11,000 square-foot covered pavilion
- Equipped stage and canopy
- Trellis and green rooms
- Green features including bioswales, LED lighting and photovoltaic cells on the pavilion
- Geothermal well field
